Potions are a vanilla-based Minecraft item. Many of these potions are not in vanilla Minecraft and have been added to SkyBlock, while vanilla potions have changed. There are a total of 41 potions in the game, in which many of them are commonly used for grinding, such as Critical potions, Strength potions, and more! Brewing potions can also be used to level up Alchemy. Players can earn Alchemy Experience by brewing any potion, including Awkward potions.
Potion brewing is somewhat similar to vanilla brewing, with nether wart turning water bottles to awkward potions, glowstone dust increasing its potency, and Redstone increasing its length. However, unlike vanilla minecraft, glowstone and redstone can be stacked on each other (but only one of each kind)

Brewing[]
Similar to vanilla Minecraft, a Brewing Stand is required to make potions, which can be bought from the Alchemist for 30 coins.
There are some notable differences to how brewing works in SkyBlock, such as:
- Brewing does NOT require Blaze Powder (like 1.8)
- The brewing stand uses a custom UI, and players can hover over the colored panels to see time remaining (20s total)
- Potion duration is affected by the brewer's Alchemy Level
- Enchanted items will result in even stronger and/or longer potions
To brew a potion, place the base potions in the bottom 3 slots, while the ingredient at the top. When a potion is brewing, the glass panes in the middle will flash orange and yellow.
By default, potions last 3 minutes (plus alchemy bonus), and the default level of the potions depends on the base ingredient. Enchanted forms give a higher base level.
Modifiers[]
After creating potions, players can add certain additional items to boost or alter their effect. Each effect can be combined with the others, although each effect can be applied only once.
|
|
|
Brews[]
The Bartender, the Melancholic Viking and Shifty sell Brews that can be used instead of awkward potions to boost the stat of a potion. These boosts work only on potions that already have the stat or are specified for use, and any percentage boost is to the potion's stats, not the player's.
Potions[]
Potions give time-limited buffs or debuffs when used. Players can have only 3 potion effects active at once (Changed in one of the latest Updates). However, Splash Potions from other players and Mob Inflicted Effects can bypass the potion effect limit. Take note that upon dying anywhere (even in the player's island or in a visiting island), players will lose all their potion effects.

Skill XP Boost Potions[]
These potions can be obtained only from Gifts. Each of these potion's duration is always 12/24/36 Minutes, depending on its level. They used to be 5/10/15 minutes but as of an unannounced update the duration is buffed significantly. This doesn't affect older potions. Skill XP boost potions can be buffed with an enchanted redstone lamp, which brings any potions being brewed to tier 3 and increases the duration by alchemy level, so it is useful even for tier 3 potions.

Alchemy Experience[]
Increasing the level of the potion does not increase the experience gained; the item used is what increases the experience.
The Cost-Effectiveness of a potion is calculated using the ingredient's purchasing price. If there is no purchasing price available, the material price will be used instead. If there is neither, then the theoretical purchasing price used for calculation is 2.5x the selling price.

Note: It is assumed that only the first ingredient after the awkward potion affects brewing leveling XP. In some cases, players can get a tier V potion that is not in the recipe book by adding enchanted glowstone to a tier III potion, provided that the tier V version can be made without modifiers. Although the result will be a tier V potion, only the tier III XP reward will be awarded.
Splashes[]
Splashes are player-hosted events where someone uses splash potions to give multiple people stat boosts at once at a fraction of the cost-per-person. While this may be done for free among friends, it's common for people to have people pay for splashes. This is done by getting a number of people together, having each person pay for a portion of the cost, and having the splasher use one or more potions to splash everyone. The price a splasher charges is enough for him/her to make a profit, while still cheaper than the cost people pay for a single potion. Usually, entering a splash costs around 90k - 100k.
This list assumes the highest level possible unless specified. When making these pots for a splash, make three of the corresponding potions at a time. Potions at the bottom of the list require tier 1 potions bought from spooky festival or any non upgraded variants obtained from the winter event presents. If a potion has a brew, it will be listed. At these events, they typically contain the following potions:

Tips[]
- A Haste Potion III allows the player to mine Stone instantly with a Golden Pickaxe enchanted with Efficiency. If one has a Haste II potion and Stonk, Cobblestone can be instantly broken as well.
- A Haste III potion used with a Golden Axe or a Treecapitator enchanted with Efficiency lets one chop Wood instantly.
- Magic Find Potion doesn't affect the chance to spawn a Special Zealot.
- It is recommended to not collect items from Minions until they are almost full. When they are, drink the appropriate Skill XP Boost Potion to maximize the amount of Skill XP gained from collecting the items.
- Currently, the best method of gaining Alchemy XP is brewing Speed Potions with Enchanted Sugar Cane or brewing Weakness Potions with Enchanted Fermented Spider Eye. One Enchanted Sugar Cane/Enchanted Fermented Spider eye yields 45,000 Alchemy Experience (15,000 per potion) and while Speed potions with normal glowstone sell for 13k total, Weakness potions with glowstone sell for 39k total.
- The mana cap when using mana potions is always 2x the player's max mana.
- With tier I skill XP potions, it is possible to add an Enchanted Redstone Lamp for a big duration and 20% bonus to collecting that XP type. (Enchanted) Gunpowder is optional, allowing these potions to become Splash Potions.
- It is recommended to enhance Spirit and Magic Find potions, as these cannot be brewed.
- Some advertised splashes may be Scams. Check where, what, and who is hosting the splash. Also, check the splasher's sky.lea.moe page and look for their potions there. If the potion isn't there, it's most likely a scam.
- Dodge potions are currently glitched, which is why some splashes do not have dodge potions
