Hello!
Welcome to SkyBlock Patch 0.19.7. Following a fruitful period of Alpha testing, today's update includes a whole bunch of creepy crawlies that will be making their way into your Garden. Read on to find out more!
A Note about Today’s Update:
As many of you are aware, this update originally landed on Alpha with the focus of introducing the core Pests system to players. We have a strong idea of our goals with this update: to create a more active gameplay loop for farming. To put it simply - we are releasing this update not only to create engaging gameplay into Farming, but also promote active play - while we do not want to completely stop the practice of playing The Garden while, for example, watching shows or talking with friends, we are hoping this update reduces the strength of botting and macroing within the Garden while improving the experience for everyone else.
Over the last couple days, we received an immense amount of feedback from sources such as Forums, Reddit, Discord and more, which allowed us to make dozens of impactful changes that have massively enhanced this updated compared to what was released to Alpha mere days ago. The Pests update, which we are releasing today, is a massive improvement, and we will continue to keep our eyes peeled for any further feedback as we make additional changes over the coming days.
We would also note that what players have come to refer to as a “Farming Jiggle” will not be enabled on live release.
► Pests[]
Starting today, players who have reached Garden Level V will encounter a variety of pests spawning around their Garden. From Rats to Mosquitos, there are ten types of pest! Different pests have different behaviors, and drop different items!
As you farm, Pests will spawn slowly over time, and if there are 4 pests or more in your Garden at once, you will lose some Farming Fortune!
But pests are not all that bad! The more you defeat them, the bigger the buff you can claim - so make sure you vacuum all your pests! There are also tools you can use to reduce pests spawning, or spawn way more pests, your choice!
Pesthunter Phillip[]
Upon players reaching Garden Level V, Pesthunter Philip, who recently moved into the Garden along with his wife, will give players their first vacuum in exchange for helping him catch an elusive pest. Players can vacuum pests and offer them to Philip in exchange for a limited-time buff to their Farming Fortune. The more pests deposited, the more fortune!
Pesthunter Pamela[]
Beloved wife of Philip and a long-time lover of Pests, Pamela’s approach is a little more…delicate. Pamela will give players the Sprayonator, which they can use to attract certain types of Pests more frequently in the hopes of obtaining their rare drops.
► New SkyMart Items[]
Get your Coppers ready; several new items have been added to SkyMart! Between a vacuum upgrade line, some barn skins, and pest repellant, there’s something for everyone!
► Pest Drops and a New Drop System[]
Each Pest has its own unique drop table. For example, the Rat drops:
- Enchanted Pumpkin (100%)
- Compost (4%)
- Honey Jar (4%)
- Dung (4%)
- Plant Matter (4%)
- Tasty Cheese (4%)
- Rodent Revolution Vinyl (2%)
- Polished Pumpkin (1%)
- LEGENDARY Rat Pet (0.2%)
Farming Fortune works on crop drops with a 5% drop chance or more, multiplying the amount of crops you receive. For example, the Rat Pest has a 100% chance to drop at least 1 Enchanted Pumpkin, so if you have a total of 1000 Farming and Pumpkin fortune, you will drop 11 Enchanted Pumpkins! How does a rat carry 11 pumpkins? You shouldnt be asking us those kinds of questions.
For Pest drops with a 5% or lower chance, a new formula has been devised that utilizes Farming Fortune in place of Magic Find. Simply put, Farming Fortune increases your chances of getting rare drops. The higher your Farming Fortune stat, the higher your chances of getting rarer drops.
► New Garden Stat: Bonus Pest Chance[]
Bonus Pest Chance is a new stat that gives you a chance to spawn 2, or even 3 pests instead of 1! This is for players who wish to farm pests most efficiently.
► Changes to Jacob’s Medals[]
As part of this update, we have adjusted the brackets within Farming Contests in an attempt to create more winners! Everyone loves winners. We don’t talk about losers.
- The Gold Medal bracket for Jacob’s Contests has been increased from top 5% to 10%.
- The Silver Medal bracket for Jacob’s Contests has been increased from top 25% to 30%.
In addition to these changes, we have added two new brackets for the farming elite to compete for:
DIAMOND: Top 2% of participants.
- Awards 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver, and 35 Jacob’s Tickets.
PLATINUM: Top 5% of participants.
- Awards 1 Gold Medal, 1 Bronze, and 30 Jacob’s Tickets.
In addition to this, collecting all unique platinum medals will award players with a gray emblem, while completing a diamond set will award a golden one.
As more and more players get more Farming Fortune and gear up, getting Gold Medal has become harder, especially for newer players. Due to this, we are adjusting the existing medal brackets to allow for more players to obtain the necessary progression rewards from Jacob, while adding 2 new brackets to recognize and reward the true top players accordingly.
► Reduced Crop Milestones[]
As things stand, maxing the Garden takes a bit too long compared to other skills, with the majority of this time being spent grinding out individual crop milestones. As a result of this, we have further reduced all crop milestones to make the grind a bit less harsh. Though this is a pretty small change, we think it will go a long way in the long-term.
► New Anita Items![]
Anita has added some new goodies to her shop! Her new accessory line grants players Farming Fortune for a random crop during each Jacob’s Contest. She also introduces a new Personal Best menu that grants extra Crop Fortune based on your own records in Jacob’s Contests! Beating your personal best now makes you permanently better at farming that crop!
► A Mythic Visitor[]
As part of this update, a new visitor named Maeve may rarely appear in your Garden if you are Garden XII or higher. If you’re able to fulfil her request, Maeve will gift you a Harvest Harbringer potion, which grants 50 Farming Fortune for the next 25 minutes. With this potion, the sky’s the limit for your Jacob’s Contest personal bests!
Producer’s Note: Crops don’t grow in the sky.
► New Barn Skins[]
We have also added two Legendary new Barn skins to the game as part of this update to make sure that you can continue farming in style! You can purchase them from SkyMart for gems now.
Other Changes[]
With this update comes several changes that look to improve the overall SkyBlock experience, with a particular emphasis placed upon The Garden.
