Damage Indicator[]
The damage indicator appears as an indicator of the amount of damage dealt to an enemy.
It is displayed as gray text in front of the hit enemy. When players deal a critical hit, the number displaying the damage dealt will be in a gradient from white to red instead and will have two stars on either side. When the Ring of Love activates, a heart will be shown next to the damage number.
The damage indicator is only capable of displaying values up to 2,147,483,647; any damage past that value will still take effect, but will be displayed as the maximum value.
Critical Hits[]
Critical hits are attacks dealt by the player that are boosted by ☠ Crit Damage.
Critical hits function differently than in Vanilla Minecraft; they are not affected by jumping. Rather, the player's ☣ Crit Chance determines the chance a critical hit will land. Critical hit damage is multiplied by , where CD is in %. A RARE or higher Giraffe pet simulates the vanilla function, giving ☠ Crit Damage and ❁ Strength while mid-air.
Mastiff Armor's set bonus reduces the effectiveness of critical hits by 50%.
Sword Swapping[]
Before the patch, by holding out a weapon, swapping to another weapon and immediately hitting an enemy, different properties of both weapons could be applied to the same hit. This would increase the amount of damage dealt to a mob.
When a weapon was switched away from, its stats 'lingered' on the player for a short time of about half a second. These stats were thus apply on a second weapon, allowing it to deal higher damage.
The stats of the first weapon, including ❁ Damage, ❁ Strength, ☠ Crit Damage, ⫽ Ferocity and others would be used for calculating damage, whereas the enchantments (Sharpness, Smite, etc.) and abilities (Fabled reforge damage bonus, Reaper Falchion bonus Zombie damage, Edible Mace ability double damage, etc.) would apply. When swapping with arrows, weapon passives like the End Sword bonus did not apply.
