Essences are collectibles that are used to upgrade Dungeon items.

Obtaining

Different kinds of essences can be obtained in the following ways:

Salvaging certain item (for 5 Spider Essence): Arack and Arachne's Armor dropped by the Arachne The Arachne's Necklace, Cloak, Belt and Gloves dropped by the Arachne's Keeper.	1,108.6 coins
	Undead Essence	Killing Crypt Undeads (Entrance and Floor 1 only) and Princes (any floor). Obtained at the reward chest once the dungeon is cleared. Salvaging certain items dropped by undead enemies in Dungeons. RARE items give 5 Undead Essence, while EPIC give 15 and LEGENDARY, 25.	750 coins
	Dragon Essence	Defeating Lost Adventurers and Redstone Warriors. Defeating Ender Dragons. Salvaging items at the Draconic Altar.	3,680.9 coins
	Gold Essence	Defeating King Midas. Defeating Watcher Summons in The Catacombs - Floor V and above with the Golden modifier. Defeating certain mobs (e.g. Zombie Knights and Golden Goblins). Salvaging Dungeon items that require Gold Essence to be upgraded. Completing Garden Task from the Gold Forger. Reward from Crystal Hollows treasure chests.	818.3 coins

Usage

Essence is used mainly for Essence Crafting, where it can be used to convert regular items into Dungeon items that have stat boosts based on the player's Dungeoneering Skill level while the player is in Dungeons. It can also be used to upgrade Dungeon items themselves, giving an additional 2% stat boost per upgrade outside of Dungeons, which becomes a 10% stat boost per upgrade while in Dungeons.

Essence Types

There are 8 types of essences, each upgrading items related to a specific type of mob or resource. They are:

• Undead Essence
• Dragon Essence
• Gold Essence
• Diamond Essence
• Wither Essence
• Spider Essence
• Ice Essence
• Crimson Essence

Essence Shops

Essence can be exchanged at Essence Shops for exclusive perks and items. There are Undead, Wither, Dragon, Spider, Ice, Gold, Diamond, and Crimson Essence Shops.

Trivia

• Purchasing Essence from the Bazaar requires  Catacombs XX (20).
• By using Malik and going to the Essence Crafting menu, players can access the Essence Guide which displays the uses for all essence types.
• Each different Essence is used to convert specific items to dungeon items. For example, Perfect Armor can be upgraded to Dungeon Armor with Diamond Essence. Dragon Essence upgrades Dragon Armor, etc. This does not work on armor sets not listed in the Essence Guide such as Crystal Armor, Fairy Armor, and Angler Armor.
• Anything upgraded using Crimson Essence will become Co-op Soulbound, which means that any trade requests for Crimson Essence are guaranteed to be scams.
  • After August 18, Essence can be bought from the Bazaar with  Catacombs 20+, which makes these scams even more obvious.
• The maximum amount of Essence a player may have of one type is 2 billion. [AHN]
