Fishing Rods are a core aspect of  Fishing as well as increasing fishing related Collections.

Fishing rods deal double damage to Sea Creatures.

Modifiers

Reforges

When applying basic Refoges, Fishing Rods share the same Reforges that Swords have.

Additionally, Fishing Rods can have certain Reforge Stones applied which cannot be applied to other tools/weapons.

Enchantments

Fishing Rods can be enchanted with various Enchantments to grant various perks and buffs to the Fishing Rod, some enchantments have a higher tier that requires a special item to be used in an anvil in order to obtain, such as  Gold Bottle Cap which must be used on a Fishing Rod with Luck of the Sea VI to upgrade it to Luck of the Sea VII.

Fishing rods can equip 3 Rod Parts at Roddy for varying perks, a Hook which grants chance to catch certain things, a Line which grants stat bonuses everywhere and a Sinker which gives special abilities.

Trivia

• Despite not having the same properties as a fishing rod, the  Nearly Coherent doR gnihsiF has "fishing rod" backwards in its name.
• In the Spooky Fishing update, a new type of fishing rod was introduced. Fishing Weapons were fishing rods that are meant for combat as well as fishing, and can have sword Enchantments in addition to fishing rod Enchantments. There were two Fishing Weapons: the  Shredder and the  Phantom Rod.
  • Even though they have the appearance of fishing rods, the  Zombie Commander Whip and the  Soul Whip are not Fishing Weapons, and cannot have fishing rod Enchantments.
  • Fishing Weapons have since been removed alongside most Fishing Rods in The Backwater Bayou update.
