This item was originally "released" for a day accidentally, alongside Silex.
The recipe for the helmet was the same as the leggings, making them unobtainable by players without a rank, as the leggings could only be obtained by using the quick crafting feature.
When the set was fully released with the 0.12 update, existing Flamebreaker Armor pieces were changed to Ember Ash Armor.
The armor and its set bonus is a reference to Breath of the Wild, where this armor was used to resist the searing heat of Goron Mountain, although in BOTW you became immune to the heat rather than reducing it.
It is highly recommended to upgrade this armor set to the Yog Armor, since it is extremely cheap and gives a universal gemstone slot, allowing an Amber gemstone to applied to get Mining Speed or apply a Jade gemstone to get Mining Fortune if you don't want to unlock the slots for them or just want more Mining Speed or more Mining Fortune. You can also just upgrade it so the heat affect in the crystal hollows doesn't affect you.
Having a Ruby in this armor set and then upgrading it to Yog will make the Ruby stop granting stats. The gemstone will be available to be claimed for free in the Gemstone Grinder.
