The Hypixel SkyBlock Wiki is a federated network of language wikis. A language wiki of Hypixel SkyBlock Wiki is a wiki of any language on with any type of hosting operated with a shared topic, goal, interest and value with the English wiki and recognized by the English wiki. An international wiki is a language wiki that is not using the English language.

Each international wiki is not in direct management of the English wiki. The English wiki offers some degree of assistance and privileges for all recognized international wikis.

To get help for international wikis, please check the Discord server page for related Discord servers. The English wiki server also has dedicated channels to ask questions about international wikis. Alternatively, you may go to the Message Wall of our representative for questions.

Support[]

The English wiki provides various support for international wikis.

For long-term technical support, editors and staff from any international wikis may reach out for help from the English wiki by:

More recently, the language extensibility for international wikis are placed considerably in the design of features for the wiki. More integrations will be in place for international wikis in order to benefit their development. Members of international wikis may engage with editors on the English wiki and provide feedback and suggestions concerning editing needs on international wikis, mainly on Discord.

Representative[]

Current representatives for international wikis are: User:MonkeysHK
Contact representatives: Discord, Message Wall (MonkeysHK)

International Representatives come from staff members of the English wiki or enthusiastic translators. They must be capable of resolving technical problems and handling requests for international wikis. These users will manage most things about the international wikis.

What representatives do
  • If a representative has the Administrator user right on a wiki, they will update the scripts and styling on that wiki when they are updated on the English wiki, in the condition that members of the community allow it. Current participating wikis are: ko, zh
  • A representative has to respond to inquiries and requests from translators and staff
  • If a representative has the Bureaucrat user right on a wiki, in the case that a wiki gone inactive, the representative is required to maintain the wiki for its continuity, including promoting new staff to manage the wiki
  • A representative otherwise has no rights in dealing with the matters on international wikis (these are left for the respective community and staff team)
How new representatives are selected
  • A person who is currently a English wiki staff or a translator can apply for being a new representative by contacting an existing representative on Discord or Message Wall. The request will be piped to the other translators on Discord and a discussion will be held for the person's request.

Editing an Existing Language Wiki[]

You can check whether a wiki is active by going to Special:RecentChanges?hidebots=1&limit=5000&days=30&enhanced=1&urlversion=2 for on that wiki. You can see if administrators are active on a wiki by going to Special:ListUsers/sysop.

Active Wikis[]

For wikis with Active Management, you can directly go in and edit and work with the respective community to deliver the best content to your respective audience. When you start, it is suggested that you translate all the main pages (pages that are linked on the top navigation) as a priority.

If you wish to be involved further, given they have an active staff team, you may go and request to join their staff team once you have a good amount of edits and shown your dedication and skill in wiki editing.

Inactive Wikis[]

Unfortunately, some wikis have gone inactive. If the wiki exists, you can still edit the wiki, but it will be impossible to ask for change in site styling, themes and scripts. In the case that no administrators have been active for over 60 days, we highly recommend you to Adopt the Wiki to access full features to improve the wiki (See Help:Adoption). Note that different language can have different requirement for adoption. Please contact us to help you with the adoption process.

Userboxes[]

These userboxes are for translators. Note that you have to be active in the respective community and positions to use the infoboxes, or we can remove it.

Opening a Language Community[]

If you did not find your community in #Existing Language Wikis, you can request us to create a new language wiki for you.

In Choice 2, a translator need to go ahead and create their own wikis, even if they may not be interested in dealing with all the technicalities. This was the only way to create a language community. For most of these wikis, there were no representative involved in the wiki's continuation, thus need to go through adoption to sustain its maintenance, even for better styling that attracts new editors. As non native speakers, we are not qualified to adopt a community to only work on styling.

The making of Choice 1 is intended to provide minimal barrier for entry. It also appoints a Wiki Representative so that ensure a wiki to be sustainable.

Most projects nowadays choose Language Project instead. A Language Project has pages on the English wiki, so it will not be discontinued when left dormant, leaving ground for new editors to grow upon. Once mature, editors will decide to move to a new wiki.

Consider Language Project First

If you want to start translating for a language, try language project first.

  1. Read the Project:Language Project page for the introduction.
  2. Tell us your intention for opening a new wiki on our Discord server, or on the Message Wall of our Representative
  3. Immediately start editing on the new language space
Procedure Choice 1 (Representative sets up everything, adds you to top rank)
  1. Tell us your intention for opening a new wiki on our Discord server, or on the Message Wall of our Representative
  2. Our Representative will open/reopen the language wiki. Since the representative already have the top user right, they will be able to import all the site stylings, theme, important templates and scripts to your wiki
  3. Our Representative will make the requester as a Bureaucrat and Administrator. The requester will interact with their community and grow the wiki at a leading position
  4. Our Representative will request the wiki to be interlanguage-linked with all other language wikis (this may take some time). After that, they will link your wiki on the English main page
Procedure Choice 2 (You create the wiki, you choose to appoint the representative)

If you do not want to follow Procedure 1,

  1. Create a wiki on your respective language using Special:CreateNewWiki. If it says the wiki is closed, you can contact the office to reopen it (Related thread)
  2. Tell us you have opened a new wiki on our Discord server, or on the Message Wall of our Representative
  3. Our Representative will request to request the wiki to be language-linked with all other language wikis. After that, they will link your wiki on the English main page
  4. Additionally, you can choose to appoint our Representative with user right of Administrator (or above) if you wish to receive long-term support for your scripts and styling

Reopening a Language Community[]

Generally, reopening a language community has to be requested. If you have been told that a language wiki is closed, and you wish to contribute thereafter, please follow the procedure below.

Choice 1

Tell us your intention for reopening a new wiki on our Discord server, or on the Message Wall of our Representative. The representative will make your request and follow up accordingly.

Choice 2

Use Fandom Support to make your request. Generally, your request will be accepted if your reasons are strong enough, but we cannot guarantee success.

Extensions and Features[]

An office request is not required for script features that are added through MediaWiki:ImportJS that imports scripts from dev wiki.

Wiki administrators of a language wiki may request for extensions or other extended features on their site. Below is a list of extensions or features enabled on the English wiki.

Group Description Extension Names
Basic These features are used for page features and will affect editing.
Other: Script These features are used for loading custom scripts and organization of scripts.
  • Global JS - Must be enabled to allow site scripts
  • Gadgets - Allows users to configure site scripts through Preference > Gadgets
Other: Non-script These features are non-crutial additions.
International These features are exclusive to language wikis.

Wiki administrators of a language wiki may request for any feature above on Fandom Support (click "Contact Us" and fill in the form). Remember to include a wiki link, user name, and email in the request. Below is a template message for the request, containing all the items above. Show/Hide Example Request

Title: Enabling Extensions for a Wiki

Hello. I am an administrator of the [language] wiki. It would help to enable this list of features that the English wiki also uses.

I would like to request for enabling global JS.

I would like to request for enabling the Shared Images feature with the English wiki. Here is a link to the written approval: [discussion link]

I would also like to request for the following extensions: DPL, Variables, VariablesLua, LuaCache, Gadgets, and EditCount.

Thank you.

If no existing administrator or staff can represent a language wiki, an editor may get help from the International Representative to request for enabling features in the Basic group.

Discord Servers[]

Readers and translators are allowed to discuss language wikis on dedicated international channels of the English server, or on a suitable server if exist. See Project:Discord#Wiki Discord for a full list.

Upon joining the English server, translators and staff may request for a special translator role after attaining at least 10 meaningful edits on a language wiki.

International Integrations[]

This part is about International Integrations for international wikis. This part will use "local" or "locally" to refer to a language wiki.

International Customization Standard for JavaScript[]

Most scripts on the English wiki are already internationally compatible (IC), meaning there is no error due to change of language environment.

Scripts on the English wiki that are internationally compatible and customizable (ICC) will be attached with an International Customization Standard Notice.

The latest version of ICS notice for ICC is as below:

/** International Customization Standard Notice (ICC-NOTICE-V2)
 * REVISION: 1
 * FLAGS: <code-modified: false> <code-appended: false> <msg-verified: true>
 * Please update flags accordingly. Please refer to en:Project:INT#ICS for details.
 *
 * Below are the localization settings that you can modify.
 */
var msg = {
    ...
}
var config = {
    ...
}
Notes
  • For ICC scripts, unless it says "No language implementation" explicitly with the notice, at least one of the msg block and the config block must exist.
  • This approach helps editors or international helpers to fetch updates from a script on the English wiki onto a local environment.
  • You are encouraged to contact the English wiki for any modification for language customization.
  • Wikis may choose to not use localization for any part or at all. For example, console messages can be in English.
Revision Number

For English wiki script writers, revision number (REVISION: X) must be updated every time if anything within the language implementation changed. If the changes exist in the text inside one of the fields, try changing the field name by adding a number after.

For translators, when updating a script from the English wiki, replace the language implementation with the local one. If the revision number does not match the English one, update any fields that are added or deleted. After updating fields, update the revision number to match.

Flags

Flags exists with the ICS Notice. Flags must be updated to reflect current states of a script that is using ICS.

  • code-modified: If true, a wiki locally modified any part of the file to fit your needs, with clear notes for changes starting with // # LOCAL NOTE #. Editors who update this script must update carefully.
  • code-appended: If true, a wiki locally appended some code, most likely at the end. The code must be surrounded by // # LOCAL BEGIN # and // # LOCAL END #. Editors who update this script must handle those parts accordingly.
  • msg-verified: If false, this script was updated by an editor that has changes to the settings, and the settings are not fully verified in its local environment yet. Fresh imported settings must be labeled // # NEW #. They need to be verified on the local language and have labels removed.

To opt out of ICS flags for an ICS script, you must replace all flags with <ics-flags: false>.

Use of Comments

Use of necessary comments in a script is encouraged. When loaded with ImportJS, Gadgets, importArticles, or with a URL of /load.php?mode=articles&only=scripts&articles=..., a trimmed version of a script is loaded, without extra white space characters or comments. The addition of comments should not affect load time.

ICC Standard Changelog
  • [ICC-NOTICE-V2] Added revision number
  • [ICC-NOTICE-V1] Added ref link: en:Project:INT#ICS
  • [ICC-NOTICE-V1] Added flags: code-modified, code-appended, msg-verified

CSS Integration[]

This is a method to import all the latest styling from the English wiki with one button, and maintain a separate local CSS for a local wiki. This is an optional feature provided for international wikis.

Creation
Update Styling

To prepare local styling for your wiki, put styling on the list of local CSS above. Tips:

  • Most CSS syntax or LESS syntax should be usable.
  • Most warnings provided by the editor may be ignored.
  • A LESS page by default is wikitext. The wikitext editor is often unfavourable for doing CSS. The editor can be changed to code mode: Go to Special:ChangeContentModel and select "CSS" for the content model.
  • If styling from English wiki are unfavourable, it is recommended to override them on language-local.less.

There will be two buttons on your MediaWiki:Custom-common.less. To push styling changes to effect:

  1. Update LESS Source - Updates the less source. This includes any changes to the core styling provided by the English wiki.
  2. Update CSS - It will pull styling from the English wiki and also your local ones.

Status[]

Existing language wikis are heritable if there is at least one contactable user with the bureaucrat role. Existing language wikis are fully-maintainable if there is at least one contactable user administrator role. Heritability implies full maintainability.

The status of a language wiki is considered for their receivable permeating updates, which may become the standard for intra-wiki updates in the future.

Language Wiki Status Contactable Bureaucrat Contactable Administrator Receivable Permeating Updates
