This page outlines the policies and guidelines surrounding the use of open proxies while editing. Users may report suspected proxies on this page.

Policy[]

Open proxies may be blocked for any amount of time after a check done by verified users of the Open Proxies Wikiproject. The blocks should be softblocks, unless, if it is abuseed through accounts.

Proxies are a threat to this wiki because that a lot of vandals uses it, and they are undetectable if they are socking. All registered users may still edit through a proxy.

Automated lists and tools[]

ISP Rangefinder is a tool that allows administrators to easily identify and hard block all ranges for an entire ISP. It should be used with extreme caution, but is useful for blocking known open proxy providers. All administrators are individually responsible for any blocks they make based on the results from this tool.
IPCheck is a tool that can help provide clues about potential open proxies.
Stalk is a tool that can help check behaviours on WMF projects.

Reporting[]

Please report IP addresses you suspect are open proxies below. A project member will scan or attempt to connect to the proxy, and if confirmed will block the address.
