Timing[]

The event lasts for 1 day in SkyBlock Time, or 20 minutes in real-life time. The interval of Jacob's Farming Contest is 3 days in SkyBlock Time, or 1 hour in real-life time.

Requirements[]

The player needs to be at least Golden Hoe Farming X to participate, and must talk to Jacob at least once. At least 100 of the current event crop must be collected to earn any rewards.

Rewards[]

There are 5 brackets of rewards: BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD, PLATINUM and DIAMOND. Each bracket earns better rewards.

Jacob's Tickets are items that can be spent with Anita Sprite Anita in the Farmhouse, on items that help build farms quicker, and items that result in more harvest and experience out of your farms. They are also used to buy ☘ Farming Fortune boosts and increase players' Golden Hoe Farming level cap to 60 (LX).

Turbo-Crop books are Enchanted Books with enchantments that will increase a player's double crop drop chance by 5% per level, stackable to 5. Level 4/5 Turbo-Crop books require a BRONZE/SILVER placing in their respective crop. A GOLD placing is no longer needed for Level 5 Turbo-Crop books. The player will always get a book for the crop whose contest they participated in. The books may also appear as a reward from the Villager Sprite Librarian visitor on The Garden.

The amount of Bits earned from contests is multiplied by the player's Bits Multiplier, based on their Fame Rank.

Earning a GOLD medal allows the player to increase their Golden Hoe Farming level cap by one per crop they earned a GOLD medal in, up to 60 (LX).

The PLATINUM and DIAMOND tiers do not have their own medals, but rather give the player additional medals as seen in the table above.

Reaching the PLATINUM or DIAMOND bracket in all crops will reward the player with unique emblems.

Previous and Upcoming Events[]

You can see current and upcoming Jacob's Farming Contests in the tab list, Jacob's menu, as well as the SkyBlock Calendar.

Strategy[]

To place in a Farming Contest usually requires a large size of farms in the player's Garden and/or hundreds of Farming Fortune after the 0.18 update. Using the tools provided by Anita can help build farms faster because the default plots are too insufficient and slow to farm, despite the fact that some of the items are not marketable and will need to be procured through their intended purchase method (which requires placement in Farming Contests), or through direct trade with another player. If needed, get a Builder's Ruler instead of a Builder's Wand. The Builder's Ruler is much powerful and inexpensive compared to the Builder's Wand. Minions will not count towards the contest, despite giving full Golden Hoe Farming XP, unless the player manually breaks crops planted by the minion, but using minions is inefficient either way due to Farming Fortune being removed from private islands.

With an enough size farm of the specific crops in the Garden, a player will be able to farm for the full 20 minutes of the Contest. This should be a player's first goal if they wish to place GOLD in the Contest.

Farming on the player's Private Island is no longer viable for contests due to Farming Fortune being disabled there. Farming in the Hub or Farm, while it still grants Farming Fortune, is not recommended for contests as the crops generally don't regrow fast enough, there may be competition from other players, and the farm layouts are not optimal to maximize Breaks Per Second without lane switches causing delays.

Wheat can be farmed easily by all players as it is the default crop unlocked in the Garden. To be compacted, both a regular Hay Bale and an Enchanted Hay Bale should be placed into the player's Personal Compactor, alongside with an Enchanted Seed.

Potatoes and Carrots are best farmed with the Garden farm, but using a flat layer of Dirt with a few breaks for water also works.

Nether Wart is best farmed the same way as Carrots and Potatoes, with Soul Sand instead of Dirt, and needing no Water, so a flat layer with no breaks is possible. Farming in the Crimson Isle can be an alternative choice, but it requires Stone Sword Combat XXII and is probably not optimal for contests, being a public island.

Pumpkins and Melons will need a farm on the player's Garden. Because of the need for a Stem to grow the crop, Pumpkins and Melons are best farmed in straight lines, perhaps two at a time to increase yield speed.

Sugar Cane needs to be farmed in the Garden to be effective, because the Mushroom Desert's Sugar Cane spawn rate is too low and Garden crops have an increase in growing speed. There are various ways to farm Sugar Cane, with some players preferring to maximize space usage with a design closer to a Wheat farm, and other players preferring the harvesting speed efficiency of the straight line Pumpkin and Melon farm.

If players are online and do not wish to participate, or know they will not score highly in the currently selected crops, farming at least 100 of the crop will give the player 1 Jacob's Ticket as a participation prize, as well as increasing the amount of participants in a given contest, allowing more players who wish to participate to score higher. Collaboration can make the game easier for everyone.

Useful Enchantments[]

Scoring high in a Farming Contest is much easier with good Enchantments on your farming tool. Hoes can have many useful enchantments.

Replenish automatically replants crops when broken. This is unavoidable if you want to achieve a high score on Wheat, Carrot, Potato, Cocoa Beans or Nether Wart because replanting them even with a Basket of Seeds takes a lot time. Note that if you are using a Personal Compactor, you should have at least a Small Agronomy Sack to prevent the compactor from compacting the seeds before they can be replanted by Replenish.

Harvesting for Hoes or Sunder for Axes increases your ☘ Farming Fortune, which affects a player's chance to get more crops.

Every Turbo-Crop Enchantment increases your ☘ Farming Fortune by +5 per level when breaking its specific crop. Turbo-Crop Enchanted Books can be obtained by winning any medal in a Farming Contest, or from the Bazaar.

Farming Medals[]

Farming medals are gained by being in the top X% of players farming that specific crop, as said above. These are the average and max crop counts necessary to obtain a medal (within a margin of error, operating off a limited sample size).

Note: This information is updated every week or every day. Last updated: April 13th, 2023. (As of the 0.18 update, farming became easier and the requirement to get a medal increased by a lot.)

Trivia[]

  • Contest brackets each include one additional player on top of the normal percentage, so you may score in a higher bracket if you were the one who was the closest to it.
  • When starting a contest or warping within the last 3 seconds of a contest, Jacob Sprite Jacob may be unable to figure out the player's placing. However, the score will be calculated correctly regardless.
  • The chat message may report the wrong bracket if it was very close and changed last second. Jacob Sprite Jacob will tell you the actual bracket you placed in when talking to him.
  • If there is a Jacob's Contest ongoing, scheduled server restarts will be delayed until 20 seconds after it is over. However, unlike Dungeons and Kuudra, game update restarts are not delayed.
  • The names of each contest bracket are similar to ranks in League of Legends.
