King Midas

King Midas is a 5Mini-Boss found in Floor III-VII of The Catacombs. He can drop the Midas' Jewel and Gold Essence.

Behavior[]

King Midas wears a full set of Golden Armor at the beginning of his fight, providing a high amount of ❈ Defense. King Midas loses his boots at 10% of his ❤ Health missing, his Leggings at 30% of his ❤ Health missing, and his Chestplate at 60% of his ❤ Health missing. When only his Helmet remains on his body, his ❈ Defense is much lower, making King Midas much easier to fight.

Tips[]

When encountered in a boss room, it is recommended to only blow up the crypt and the leave quickly. Only blowing up the crypt and entering the room allows you to complete and earn exploration score for the room. Fighting Midas is simply not worth it due to the Midas Jewels extremely rare chance, not selling for a lot due to the Midas' Sword being outclassed in dungeons by the Flower of Truth and the Livid Dagger, and not to mention the sheer amount of ❤ Health and ❈ Defense King Midas has.

Trivia[]

In The Catacombs - Floor 3, King Midas has 300k❤ health.
Under normal circumstances, in The Catacombs - Floor 7, King Midas has 4M❤ health. However, if you clear every room except the Midas room, and use a Conjuring / Guided Sheep to blow up the crypt without walking into the room, then the next time you walk in following that, King Midas will have an upwards of 11M❤ heath.
- Interestingly enough, the same applies to all floors where a King Midas can spawn.
The description of Midas Jewel and the name of its ability imply that King Midas has a brother named Byron.
Three months after the release of King Midas, an item with same ability as the one used by him was released, Midas Staff.
