NPCs, or Non-Player Characters, are characters that are scattered around the map. You can talk to them and some of them will have a Quest for you, or own a Shop. Each Area has at least one NPC. Some NPCs sell items while others might sell Weapons/Tools that you cant craft. For NPC that do sell items, you buy those items and, sell them higher than their buy price.
