Necron has 1,000,000,000❤ or 1,400,000,000❤ in Master Mode. He sometimes has a shield surrounding him which protects him from all attacks.
In all parts of the boss fight, lava damages the player for 20% of their max health, as well as launching them upwards. When being launched by lava, the player has an unknown chance to launch much higher than usual.
Phase 1
Phase 2
Phase 3
Phase 4
The trapdoor in the core entrance will open after Goldor was defeated and as the players were about to reach the bottom layer of the factory, Necron hovers the players in the air over a platform surrounded by a ring of lava when he is saying his welcome speech. He then destroys the platform beneath the players and released them into the lava.
At 80% ❤ Health, he will teleport to the center platform and blind the players and begin a frenzy attack which deals even higher amounts of damage. The radius of this frenzy increases over time and decreases with damage dealt. When it reaches 0, Necron will destroy a section of the outer ring and then resume attacking the players. This takes 10 seconds. This repeats at 5% ❤ Health.
The fight finishes when Necron reaches 0 ❤ Health.
Necron has several attacks.
- Summoning a Barrage of Wither Skulls launched from each of his three heads. They do high ❁ Damage and are fired rapidly, dealing high knockback.
- Necron will sometimes stay still and fire wither Skulls at a much faster rate.
- He enters a frenzy where explosions are centered on him, dealing extremely high amounts of damage to any player who gets close. The size of the explosions will increase while Necron is not being damaged, and decreased when Necron is.
- Shooting fireballs at players.
- Causing lightning to strike nearby.
- Summoning 4 floating Diamond Swords and launching them towards players, dealing ❁ Damage and Knockback.
- He flies into the air and summons 4 horizontal groups of beams, which rotate around Necron for 15s. They deal 25% of the player's ❤ Health in ✷ True Damage on contact.

Lore
- Necron, similarly to other inhabitants of The Catacombs, was a human. After being orphaned by the Calamity, Necron sought to discover what magic killed his parents. That's why he joined the Mage's Academy, unfortunately, he was not very good, he was even called "the worst student", despite him being one of the oldest students at 17 years of age. He desperately tried gaining access to Scrolls with forbidden magic, knowing that they are the answer to his problems, but his requests were always denied.
- Ten days before mage exam, that Necron, with his current knowledge, didn't have a chance to pass, he sat in his room, unable to sleep. He cursed the dean of the association for restricting his access to knowledge when he suddenly heard a subtle noise - a rustle of paper. Someone has slid some paper below his door. He couldn't believe what he saw, he quickly opened the door - but there was nobody there. Necron was holding a scroll with forbidden magic. He didn't keep his interest in them a secret, but the scrolls were protected with advanced spells, stealing them was unthinkable to anyone. He started learning the spell on the scroll. The scroll was able to make him invisible to regular magic. This spell would make him immune to vision spells, and able to bypass weaker barriers - he thought of only one place where that would be useful, and he had no intention going there.
- Over a couple of days, he mastered the spell and thought of an almost too perfect way to use it. He knew, that for over a decade after his defeat, The Wither King was imprisoned in a cage, he was guarded by mages and a barrier, the guards however prefered to stay away from the cage itself. Necron pretended to help the guards with their chores. Despite his immense stress, he cast the spell in the forest, and walked to the barrier and crossed it with no problems. As he approached the cage behind the barrier, he noticed the ground and everything around him being corrupted, losing its color. He saw it, a wither creature, about twice his size. He did it, he met Kaeman, The Wither King.
- Only the middle of his heads seemed to notice him; "You are using my spell" the Wither said. He was surprised hearing the voice, and he heard it again. "Who are you, and why are you here?" it said. "Why am I here?" Necron finally answered “My name is Necron. You killed my parents 17 years ago…”. After a brief silence, The Wither King responded "Is that why you are here, Necron?" "No..." Necron answered. He proceeded to question Kaeman about him, and the Fel Magic [1] Apart from their common negative opinion on the Mage's Academy, they found that there were more similarities between the two of them. Kaeman offered to teach Necron the basics of Dark Magic. And Necron quickly lost interest in revenge against Kaeman.
- Some time later, Kaeman wanted something in return from being Necron's master, he wanted to escape. They grew close, so Necron did not hesitate. Kaeman prepared a spell and it was time. While it only lasted few seconds, it was the most complicated thing that Necron ever had to conjure. After the barrier was destabilized, Kaeman broke his cage and a part of the island, then jumped to the Void together with Necron, stopping their fall after about 100 meters, entering an opening in the cliff, sealing it immediately behind them. "Just what is… What is this place?" Necron explaimed. “The Catacombs.” Kaeman replied.
- Five years after the events of the Journals Apprentice, Part 1; Part 2 and Part 3, Kaeman taught Necron some more, until he himself became a powerful mage. One night, be went to an Inn for unknown reason, where a young murderer attempted on his life, Necron took Livid's corpse with him to The Catacombs, but he was followed. From his follower, Lathrop, he learned that the reason for following a stranger, were his visions, which told Lathrop that following him to his master, would make him meet his full potential. Necron took his follower with him, and not long after taking him to Kaeman, Lathrop became The Watcher.
- After The Watcher's transformation, he was asked by The Wither King, to create a world where he would live his happy days again. After difficult and exhausting work, he succeeded. The Wither King secluded himself from The Catacombs, entrusted Necron to be in charge of The Catacombs and put The Watcher in Necron's service.
- After destroying the Expedition to the Catacombs and sending Storm to destroy the castle. He began questioning his desire for conquest.
Trivia
- Necron smote and killed The Professor, as shown at the end of The Catacombs - Floor III boss fight, this was his first introduction and was released back when he was the final boss of Dungeons.
- Necron, Storm, Goldor and Dante are the only mobs who can destroy constructions.
- Back when he was the boss on Floor 7 alone, he had most phases of any existing boss - 4, these phases now feature other Wither Lords.
- One of his old quotes "YOU MERELY ADOPTED THE CATACOMBS, I WAS MOLDED BY THEM!" is a reference from the film The Dark Knight Rises. -->
- This line is also used by Paul when he is a candidate for the mayor election.
- The "HASTA LA VISTA, BABY!" quote is a reference to The Terminator 2 and its subsequent sequels, where the catchphrase is referenced.
- The name Necron comes from Ancient Greek word for "dead" or "the dead" - νεκρός (nekrós).
- Necron and The Watcher are similarly old, both orphaned by someone using Fel Magic and while The Watcher's parents were killed by The Calamity, it is never specified whether Necron's were killed by it too, or by The Wither King using the same magic.
- The description of Sorrow implies that those who go through immense distress become Ghosts, however neither he nor Kaeman did become Ghosts.
- Necron's beam attack is closely similar to Broken Heart Radiation used by a Voidgloom Seraph Tier
IV
, albeit without a debuff of decreased ♨ Vitality.

- ↑ Dungeon Journal, The Apprentice Part 3 “You said I was using your spell, what do you mean?” asked Necron. “Fel magic, or a variant. I created that spell, and wrote the scroll myself.” “So the rumors are true, you were a human before, called Kaeman?” “That is correct.” “Fel magic… What is it, and why do I have an affinity for it? Have you done anything to me?” “I haven’t. Well, at least not intentionally. I’ve never met anyone with an affinity for Fel magic, it is quite interesting.” The Wither King continued: “While I didn’t invent that kind of magic, I was the first human to study it, directly from the Dragon’s heart. But the Academy was against any kind of progress for the dark arts, they have their own agenda.”
