The Repelling Candle is an UNCOMMON item that can be used to prevent Mobs from spawning on the player's ⏣ Private Island. The crafting recipe for this item is unlocked at Acacia Log VII.

Usage

When the Repelling Candle is unlocked in the Island Properties menu, monsters can be prevented from spawning on the island. Mobs spawned from minions are unaffected by this item.

It is very useful if the player wishes to cull mobs but also leave the island's biome unaltered, as previous solutions would often use a  Nether Biome Stick to make the hostile mobs into Chickens.

Trivia

• There appears to be a Red Repelling Candle in ⏣ The Catacombs (Entrance) in the ⏣ Coal Mine.
• There is a bug where the Repelling Candle is able to be placed in the Hub. The bug happens if the player clicks on a crafting table with the Repelling Candle in their hand.
• A visual of the candle's sphere can be seen by using mods such as NotEnoughUpdates. The commands to see it are:
  • /neuzeesphere on
  • /neuzeesphere 50 (or 10)
  • /neuzeesphere setcenter - moves center of sphere to current location, so stand on the candle
  • /neuzeesphere off - to remove the sphere
• Unlike most other related blocks, it can still be placed after the 0.19.9 update, but it can also be used from the Island Properties menu without placing.
