In comparison to the Shredder, assuming both are fully enchanted and reforged to Salty or Treacherous, the Rod of the Sea has 7 additional α Sea Creature Chance, but 5 less fishing speed making the Shredder the rod with the highest fishing speed. Rod of the Sea is the best fishing rod currently in the game for fishing experience and sea creatures per hour. Use Angler Enchantment to get another 1-6 α Sea Creature Chance depending on the level unless the Shredder has Chimera on it.
When upgraded from the Rod of Legends, all of the enchants, reforges, and recombobulation will stay on the Rod of the Sea.
