Obtaining

Sand can be mined on the ⏣ Mushroom Desert. It is also possible to collect them on the ⏣ Private Island by placing  Desert Islands or  Pond Islands, and then digging the Sand. Players can also craft a  Sand Minion to obtain more Sand.

Sand can be bought from the Farm Merchant or Windmill Operator for 4 coins per block, from the Builder for 2 coins per block, or from the Auction House or Bazaar.

Digging Sand grants +3 base  Mining XP.

Usage

Sand must be placed around the  Cactus Minion for it to work and can be placed around  Sugar Cane Minion with  Water.

A  Sand Minion is crafted by placing  80x Sand around a  Wooden Shovel in a crafting table. It is also needed in a handful of recipes.

Sand can be smelted in a  Furnace or mined with a tool with Smelting Touch to obtain  Glass.

Sand can also be sold to any Merchant for 2 coins per block.

Trivia

• Until the 0.11.4 update, players weren't able to mine Sand on any public island. They had to craft a  Desert Island and mine the Sand there to get Sand collection.
• A good early-game tactic for getting decent amounts of money is to make an Efficiency II  Golden Shovel and go to the ⏣ Mushroom Desert and mine a full inventory of sand. Then, sell it to the bazaar.
