Thorn is the 6BOSS of The Catacombs - Floor IV. He is a ghast which spawns animals and can only be damaged by his Spirit Bow.

Thorn's remains re-appear on Floor V, from which Livid drains energy in order to clone himself.

Title and Description[]

Shaman Necromancer

Powerful Necromancer who specializes in animals. Calls himself a vegetarian, go figure.

Boss Fight[]

Unlike most of the other bosses in The Catacombs, Thorn only has one apparent phase, same as Livid, however technically has different phases, but the differences are minuscule. Thorn will speed up the more he has been damaged and when he is about to die in one more hit, Thorn will start turning around, making it harder to hit him. Additionally, the mobs gain more HP, overall making it a longer fight.

Thorn will summon Spirit Animals which can deal damage to the player along with a new 4Mini-Boss called the Spirit Bear. A counter (indicated by a ring of Sea Lanterns and Coal Blocks near the audience) shows how many Spirit Animals have been killed. When the ring fully lights up with Sea Lanterns, the Spirit Bear will spawn.

There is a crowd of enemies cheering for Thorn in the arena. While they can't attack the player, they can give helpful hints for Thorn's attacks. Although, if the player enters the crowds viewing area, swarms of spirit bats will attack the player and deal large quantities of damage.

Occasionally, one of the circles in the arena will change color, either green or orange. If it turns green, it will ready up a Healing Circle much like the Healer's one, but if it turns orange, it will start a fire on that circle. Thorn's spirit animals will take 5% of their HP every second they are in the fire.

Spirit Bear[]

The Spirit Bear is a Mini-Boss summoned during the fight. It will be summoned once 100 Spirit Animals have been killed. It has 5M❤ (or 180M❤ in Master Mode) and can attack players with a Golden Sword or a Spirit Bow. The spirit bear will heal overtime, but very slowly.

When the Spirit Bear is killed, an item called the Spirit Bow will appear, and the person who picks it up has only one shot at damaging Thorn. Four successful hits with the Spirit Bow will kill Thorn. In Master Mode, six successful hits with the Spirit Bow are required to kill Thorn.

In Master Mode, 3 Spirit Bears will spawn instead of one.

Spirit Rabbit	675k	3,720	6.5M	84k	Will attack the player, launching them in the air, and then run away.	Deals True Knockback.
Spirit Chicken	350k	1,160	3M	336k	Slowly descends to the ground, strike nearby players with lightning for 25% of their max health as True Damage. If it touches the ground, it will turn into a Chicken Mine. Players who walk over it take damage and are knocked into the air.	Exploding chicken mines deal True Knockback.
Spirit Sheep	650k	22,400	10M	784k	Runs toward the player and explodes much like a creeper. Deals damage based on how close the player was to the explosion. Deals up to 30,000 damage.	Sheep explosions deal True Knockback.

Trivia[]

The Spirit Bow used in the Thorn fight has some extra lore attached to it.
Thorn's remains are seen in during the Livid boss fight in the form of a purple orb ("This Orb you see, is Thorn, or what is left of him.").
The Spirit Bow specifically does approximately 75,000 ❁ Damage per hit against Thorn.
In Master Mode Floor 4, three Spirit Bears will spawn, and all three must be killed to get the Spirit Bow.
There is currently a bug where you can stun Thorn using a Tribal Spear or Bonemerang.
- If you attempted to stun Thorn but failed the stun whilst Thorn is still alive, Thorn will become extremely fast.
One of Thorn's lines is "Round and round, another wound." which might have been intended to rhyme, even though it does not.
