NPC Flipping is an act of reselling items bought from NPCs or Bazaar for a higher price. NPC Flipping is a good way to earn money early to mid-game with a little effort.
Part 1: NPC => Bazaar[]
When people say "NPC Flipping", they usually refer to this method. Most of the time NPC item selling price is lower than a Bazaar selling price. That means you can actually buy items from NPC and sell these items to Bazaar for a higher price. This method can give you about 100k coins daily.
Check for prices[]
Check for the selling price on Bazaar before buying said items from NPC. Some items have a higher selling value from NPC than selling value of Bazaar.
Common example is Ghast Tears. Ghast Tears can be bought from Alchemist for 200 coins, but are usually sold at Bazaar for only 30 coins.
Sand on the other hand can be bought from Farm Merchant for just 4 coins. The average Bazaar selling price for Sand is about 12 coins. About 6000 coins can be earned on reselling sand alone.
Have enough inventory space[]
All the items that are sold by NPCs and can be sold to Bazaar have a selling limit of 640 items (10 stacks) per day. In early game, it is recommended to have 30 empty slots in the inventory when NPC flipping.
- Buy 10 stacks of item A from NPC
- Buy 10 stacks of item B from NPC
- Buy 10 stacks of item C from NPC
- Sell inventory to Bazaar
- Repeat with other items
Make enchanted items[]
It is common for enchanted items to have a higher selling value than the unenchanted forms. But make sure to always check before making the items enchanted because there are still plenty of items that sell more than there enchanted form. It can be more profitable to craft items bought from NPC into enchanted items and only then sell it to Bazaar. Please make sure to check the prices before doing it, you might be losing money!
Part 2: Bazaar --[]
> NPC[]
Sometimes prices on Bazaar are smaller than the NPC selling prices. Its called "Reverse NPC Flipping". It usually happens with items that aren't very useful to players but have a high NPC selling value.
Example: Spooky Bait is useless for players that want to catch Sea Creatures. Its NPC selling price is 10 coins. It can usually be found on Bazaar for 9-11 coins (instant buy) or 8-9 coins (buy offer). Buying these items in a very large amount could be profitable since you get about 2 coins per sold item. Be careful. Prices can change very quickly.
Items that usually have a bigger NPC selling value:
- Cactus
- Seeds
- Enchanted Feather
- Enchanted Rabbit
- Gravel
- Netherrack
- Ender Pearl
- Clownfish
- Prismarine Shards
- Prismarine Crystals
- Spooky Bait
- Revenant Flesh
Be very careful with Reverse NPC Flipping and always check prices. Do not place a too high buy offer for these items.
Finding What Items to Use[]
Some items will make you profit from these techniques, but others will not. There's a lot of sites/discord bots that will make this easier for you in Community Resources.
Currently some of the best items to NPC flip are packed ice, flint, and rabbits foot.
