This tutorial is a guide to making a farm is meant for Wheat, Potatoes, Carrots or Nether Wart. It has been designed by the Farming Council, whose discord server can be found here.
Construction[]
This build has been designed to be 5 plots long and have either 2 or all 4 of these crops unlocked. Nether Wart is the most space efficient when at one of the ends. This build will show all 4 crops, however if you want to do less, simply build the ones you want.
Requirements[]
- Tools
- InfiniDirt™ Wand
- Builder's Ruler
- Hoe of Greatest Tilling
- Prismapump
- Basket of Seeds
- Nether Wart Pouch
- Items
- 37.5 stacks (2400x items) of Soul Sand
- 12 stacks (768x items) of Iron Trap Doors
- 1 stack of a permanent block (preferably Quartz Blocks)
- 10 Signs
- 4 Stairs
- 187.5 stacks (12,000x items) of Nether Wart, Seeds, Potatoes, and Carrots
Building[]
- Place 5 lines of soul sand on the bedrock at one end of the farm.
- Place 5 temporary blocks on top of the end blocks of soul sand. Then use the Builder's Ruler to place another layer of soul sand on top.
- Repeat until you have 5 layers. Remove the temporary blocks.
- Use your Builder's Ruler and InfiniDirt™ Wand to place 4 lines of temporary dirt blocks on the left side.
- Place trapdoors on the top half of all the dirt blocks. Remove the temporary blocks.
- Place layers of dirt in the same way on the other side of the trap doors.
- Repeat this, but with dirt instead of soul sand, next to the section you have already built, with 1 block between it.
- In the middle gap, place temporary blocks on the same layer as each line of dirt.
- Use your Builder's Ruler to place lines of dirt on each temporary block you placed. Then remove the temporary blocks.
- On the left side, place a line of dirt on the bedrock with a 2 block gap between it and the farm. Place blocks next to each layer of dirt on the end. Use your Builder's Ruler to place dirt on the temporary blocks. Then remove them.
- Use your Prismapump to place water between the layers on each layer. Use your Hoe of Greatest Tilling to till all of the dirt on each of the 5 wide layers. Use your Basket of Seeds and your Nether Wart Pouch to place your crops. Each column is a different crop.
- Create a preset of this plot, and paste it to 4 other plots in a line.
- On Side 1
- Remove the last layer of trapdoors. Remove 1 more on the bottom layer of trap doors, and the 3rd layer of trap doors from the bottom, then place Signs on the block above them.
- Place your permanent blocks on that last layer.
- On Side 2
- Remove the last layer of trap doors, and then 1 more on the top and 3rd down. then place signs above the last trap door removed on those 2 layers.
- Place permanent blocks on the last layer. Do this for the other 2 crops as well.
Farming[]
Once the farm is complete, the player should harvest the crops with 93 ✦ Speed, at a 90/180/-90/0 degree angle, and a 5° pitch for carrot and potato.
